Jensen Covid-19 information

We are working differently, but are committed to our customers and partners to ensure that our families have food in these uncertain times; responsibly and safely. Our commitment to doing the right thing and putting people first will continue to guide every decision we make.

How we are handling employee travel:
  • All non-essential business associated travel has been restricted.
  • All non-essential intra-facility traffic has been restricted.
  • We ask all employees to inform us of any upcoming travel plans.
  • Any employee returning from vacation or travel is screened in accordance with CDC guidelines.
Temperature Taking:
  • Dedicated 24/7 temperature monitoring using multiple technologies in a temperature-controlled, optimal environment in order to combat cool outdoor temperatures for employees arriving at the facility. This applies to employees and contractors.
  • Daily tracking by location, number of employees calling in sick, days out, symptoms, quarantined employees, and employees on vacation.
  • All call-ins are reviewed on a daily basis by facility to assess trends.

Social Distancing in Plants

  • All employees are practicing safe social distancing.
  • 75% of employees are working remotely.
  • Eliminated all group and team “in person” meetings.
  • All employees and visitors have their temperature taken prior to entry.
  • Face masks are provided.

Employee Breaks:
  • Adjusting break times to reduce the number on break at any given time.
  • Changing welfare area table configurations to allow for 6 feet of distancing.
  • Added three additional lunch rooms to increase employee separation.
  • Added plastic shielding in lunch table to protect each employee.
  • Hired an onsite nurse for each shift.

  • When applicable, provide online/computer training.
  • In certain cases, running production lines at half speed to enable proper social distancing until other means of doing so can be accomplished.
  • Reconfigured production workstations to allow appropriate social distancing. Constructed shields for workstations where distancing was not possible due to the nature of the job.
  • Posted occupancy limits for all offices and conference rooms for adeqaute social distancing to be executed in these spaces.
  • Reusable cloth face coverings have been distributed to all of our employees and contractors.
  • Posted signs, as well as weekly email deliveries, reminding employees of social distancing responsibilities and the practice of good hygiene.
  • Established outpost remote offices around the plant to eliminate close proximity of supervision and management support in the operational hubs around the plant.
Sanitizing/Cleaning Procedures:
  • Increased frequency in common areas such as break rooms and restrooms, including high touch areas like handrails, counter tops, computer kiosks, time clocks, etc.
  • Routine foaming and/or fogging of production surfaces, walls, floors, doors, locker areas, work areas, etc. with EPA registered sanitizing agents.
  • Hygienic floor scrubber machines use quaternary ammonium compounds for cleaning and are deployed continuously around common areas on all 3 shifts.
  • Installation of additional alcohol-based hand sanitizer dispensers.
  • Instantaneous, universally available warm water for hand washing – guarantee of perfectly warmed water 100% of the time.
  • Visitors are not allowed to enter any Jensen Meat facility (with the exception of established third party providers and contractors) until further notice.
  • Self-screening guidelines have been implemented for established third parties and contractors. This includes asking about past travel, as well as current health status.
  • Until further notice, there is no attendance discipline being administered for missing work as long as employees call in as required.
Employee Tests Positive for COVID-19:
  • Jensen Meat has put in place a response protocol of separation and sanitizing based on CDC and NAMI (North American Meat Institute) established guidelines.
